Renter Move Out Checklist

1. Notify your Property Manager
2. Schedule the Elevator
3. Move Everything Out and Clean
4. Leave Keys
5. Provide Forwarding Address for your Security Deposit

1. Notify your Property Manager
Be sure to inform your property manager that you are not renewing your lease and also inform the manager of the specific day you will be moving out. All renters moving out on the last day of the month must be out of the unit by 1 p.m., unless you get permission from your property manager to extend that time.

2. Schedule the Elevator
If you are moving out of a condominium unit (rather than an apartment building), you will need to contact the building management office to coordinate your actual move. Elevators for moving out nearly always need to be reserved in advance, and the available time slots can fill up fast. Be sure to schedule this as soon as possible.

3. Move Everything Out and Clean
To help ensure that your entire security deposit is refunded to you, you need to follow the requirements in your lease regarding moving out.

Our general guidelines are:

*Empty and clean cabinets, stove, refrigerator, microwave and shelves. Also clean
toilets, wall tile and bathroom fixtures.
*Vacuum and spot-clean carpeting, and wash all other flooring.
*Remove all nails, tacks, hooks, tape, etc. from walls and ceilings. To avoid charges
for damages, we recommend you fill any larger holes in walls or ceilings.
*Remove all personal property and furniture from the apartment and any
storage units.
*Remove all debris from the unit, including hangers, food and trash.

4. Leave Keys
If you live in a unit that you can lock without keys, you can leave all the keys in the unit when you move out and lock the door behind you. If you cannot lock the unit without a key, you will need to schedule a time with your property manager to turn in the keys. ALL keys, fobs and garage door openers must be returned or you will be charged for them according to the terms of your lease.

5. Provide Forwarding Address for your Security Deposit
Be sure to leave your forwarding address with us so that we know where to send your security deposit. You can enter your forwarding address through the portal. All security deposits will be returned, minus the cost to repair any damages, within 45 days after the end of your lease. We do our best to return them sooner if possible.
